Common questions

How do I take a picture in Authentic mode?

Tap HOW TO on the camera to see these steps at any time.

I just want to point and shoot.

Move the lever on the top of the camera from AUTHENTIC to SIMPLE. Exposure and focus are automatic, there's no dark slide, and the film winds on by itself. You can mix and match in the settings (the gear).

The viewfinder is very dark or very bright.

In Authentic mode the lens is set by hand, so the picture shows what your settings will give. Tap the meter (METER · TAP TO MATCH) to set the lens for the scene.

The release won't fire.

Check the dark slide is out and the crank has been wound a full turn since the last picture.

The counter shows E.

The roll of 12 frames is finished. Wind on to load a fresh roll.

Can I have normal photos without the film look?

Yes. In the settings, turn off FILM LOOK. Pictures are then saved full-frame in natural colour, exactly as your iPhone took them.

Where are my pictures?

In the Photos app. If the viewfinder says Photos access is off, tap Open Settings and allow the app to add photos.

Do I need iPhone Duo?

No. It works on every iPhone that runs iOS 27. On iPhone Duo, fold it to a right angle and look down onto the lower screen, with the cameras on the upper half facing your subject.

The image in the viewfinder is back to front.

That's how a real waist-level finder looks. Use the MIRROR switch beside the viewfinder to put it the right way round.
